Home / Message from the Owner

From the owner, a message to the parents:

While we are not the biggest and have only had this one location for over 34 years, it is true as many say: “The Best Driving School is Perry Hall.” Our goal is the student’s safety and that you realize this is the most dangerous thing your child will do.

“Driving has accounted for more deaths than any war in our Country’s history.”

Perry Hall Driving School wants you to “DRIVE SMART”

THEREFORE:

  • We comply with the MVA of Maryland’s philosophy of wanting you to slow down this process of getting a license while your child’s young brain doesn’t think logically about safety and does NOT see risks the way you do.

  • We are NOT in a hurry to put your child on the road. After just 60 hours of practice with you and 6 hours with us, they are NOT experienced enough to drive by themselves.

  • HOW they drive with you is not how they drive with themselves or friends.

  • Your child does not drive while still in class as in other schools and must complete all tests and the final before they can drive. The knowledge is helpful isn’t it?

  • We DO make exceptions for those with more drive time that need to get to college or work. Each case is different. We will work with you and have a reputation as a full service driving school for meeting your needs.

  • We have given the class a second time FREE of charge for those students who didn’t quite grasp it the first time. We meet their needs for finally getting it and “driving smart”. We understand there are students with special needs. We just completed one student one on one with the instructor for 30 hours who had serious issues in a classroom setting. I am proud of that; no other school called would help the mother.

  • We drive the student in a car that will FIT their needs. WE have a full size, mid size, and smaller cars so whether your child is on the football team and is a big dude or is the little petite dancer; we have the car to meet their needs.

  • Students as far as Northeast, Joppa, Fallston, Hereford, Sparks, Timonium, and Boca Raton, FL... have taken our class. *Ally, a 16 year old from Florida, attended Perry Hall Driving School. They come from all over. I am very proud of our reputation.

*Ally’s cousin, a Perry Hall resident, attended or school. The moms who are sisters talked about the class etc. Florida does not mandate driver education in a classroom setting. It is done on the internet. The grandmother paid for Ally to fly here and take the class, and yes of course we gave grandmother a discount. We then did the drive time right after she completed the class. Maryland did recognize her learners from Florida, and she had the experience but no classroom instruction. She was one of those exceptions. That is what it is all about. She was very impressed with the class, what she had learned, and made a few friends. I am very proud of that.

The MVA in the past had extended the learners permit from 1 year to 2 year expiration and now has extended the time to hold the learners permit by 3 months as of October 1, 2009. This is a direct result from deaths because of the teens who drove TOO SOON, WITH TOO LITTLE EXPERIENCE. This is NOT a matter to take lightly and a wise parent makes wise choices. I personally invite you to my orientation for those parents who want to know what we do at Perry Hall. So call or e-mail and we will put you on the list. After that, you can make a conscious choice as to what school will teach your child to just drive or “DRIVE SMART”.

Thank you,
